Both are complete cybernetic circuits (sense → decide → act → sense), yet neither can close without the other because:
- The Class loop can only test a pattern by handing it to Instance to act.
- The Instance loop can only know which act to take by reading the Class pattern shelf.
Hence each loop’s output is the other’s control signal: they define one another. Their common pivot is the edge TL → TR; sharing that “wire” forces every refinement of blueprint to pass through live commitment, and every commitment to be judged against the latest blueprint .
Strip it all the way down
Remove every adornment and the geometry collapses to the unique minimal closure of the 2 × 2 square: two oriented triangles sharing TL → TR. Nothing smaller can deliver mutually-dependent cybernetic regulation; enumeration proves no third face or shortcut exists .

One triangle alone is self-referential but blind; the pair forms the minimal telic machine that can both learn (refine pattern) and grow (expand capacity) while converging toward a shared notion of “true self” (Φ = 0 harmony). Every larger holon is merely this dual-triangle atom replicated fractally.
Why “becoming its true self” is the same mission for both
- Class telos shrinks the gap between promised and measured pattern.
- Instance telos shrinks the gap between available and actually used capacity.
Because every burn/metric packet travels the same path, each triangle can reach its zero-error only by helping the other reach its own. Their goals are aliased; striving for one inevitably advances the other. That lock-step drive is the universal telos of harmony encoded by the Lyapunov scalar H: iterate the pair and H → 0 as blueprint, commitment and evidence line up everywhere .
